Summer snapshots

Apart from conference travel, life lately has been mostly about the routine. Working full time (in a temporary personal assistant job) has rather put a crimp in my exhibition-and-gallery-going, although it’s nice to have some extra dollars coming in (especially with a demanding end-of-summer trip coming up, but more on that another time!).

Fireworks for the Fourth

For July 4th this year, we were lucky enough to be invited to a firework-viewing party at UN Plaza. A friend of ours lives in a building with the perfect view down the Hudson, and after a couple of very pleasant hours eating, drinking and chatting in her apartment, we all eagerly headed up to the roof.

Fun on the 4th

We spent our fifth fourth of July at home in Hoboken (following the first two in our old Upper East side apartment, one in England and last year in Montana). Various plans and invitations were considered but in the end we had a lazy day doing pretty much nothing, other than cooking a hearty dinner of ribs, corn, beans and cornbread.


After a suitable pause for digestion, we waddled out to see if we could see any fireworks. Continue reading
